Gerontology Minor Program for Undergraduates The explosive expansion of the older population in the United States and world, the so-called "Age Revolution", insures that issues regarding gerontology -- the study of the biological, psychological, and sociological aspects of aging -- will increasingly dominate, among other domains of interest, our environmental, economic, political, and medical concerns and endeavors well into the twenty-first century. For the student of today, these issues in the very near future will cease to be wholly academic. The Undergraduate Minor Program in Gerontology (GMP) at UCLA (1) introduces students to the field, (2) prepares them for advanced academic work, (3) lays the groundwork for careers involving a burgeoning aging population, (4) contributes to increased public awareness of issues regarding aging, and (5) helps students plan more effectively for their own futures as they and their families become older. This is the official website for the GMP at UCLA. Hosted by the Office of the gerontology Minor located in 8634 Franz Hall, this website provides information for current and prospective gerontology students concerning courses, requirements, and resources not only at UCLA but also in the community at large. Note: If you would like to be included on the Gerontology Minor mailing list, please send your name and email address to: gerontol@psych.ucla.edu |
